Our First Event of 2023 - Fflur Dafydd: The Library Suicides

We were delighted at the turn out for our first event of the year! The event was held to celebrate the new novel by author Fflur Dafydd, The Library Suicides, a reimagining of her own Welsh novel Y Llyfrgell, which was also turned into a BAFTA Cymru award-winning film. You might also know Fflur as the writer of Yr Amgueddfa, a drama series that is currently airing on S4C.The image shows Fflur Dafydd and Jon Gower sat next to each other on chairs in front of a blue Griffin Books banner, in front of an audience of people. Fflur is smiling and they are in conversation.

The audience were highly engaged by Fflur’s interview with former BBC Arts correspondent Jon Gower, as they discussed the history of the National Library in Aberystwyth, where the novel is set, and the differences between writing in Welsh and English.

The photo shows Mel, the owner of Griffin Books, standing next to author Fflur Dafydd in front of a blue Griffin Books banner. They are both smiling and Fflur is holding a bunch of flowers.

Our next event is with debut author Carole Hailey, whose novel The Silence Project is a powerful exploration of the impact of protest movements, combined with a complex mother-daughter relationship. This event will take place on Thursday 16 Feb at 7.30 pm.
