THE PENARTH LITERARY FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS WEEKEND...

The Penarth Literary Festival returns this weekend with nine days of talks, signings, workshops and seminars guaranteed to delight book lovers of all ages. The Festival is organised by award-winning independent bookshop GRIFFIN BOOKS and events will take place in venues across Penarth from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 June.

This year’s festival has a distinctly Welsh flavour, with themes of Welsh identity and culture running through the programme. Champion of Welsh Music and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter HUW STEPHENS will be in conversation with fellow broadcaster BETHAN ELFYN about his new book Wales: 100 Records. Journalist and podcaster RORY CELLAN-JONES will be talking about his moving new memoir Ruskin Park: Sylvia, Me and the BBC, while acclaimed crime novelist CLARE MACKINTOSH will introduce her very personal work of non-fiction, It Won't Always Hurt Like This. Plus, Wales Book of the Year shortlisted writer ALEX MCCARTHY will join JOSHUA JONES and ELIZABETH O'CONNOR on the Festival's first Fiction Showcase panel.

Events for children include a poetry and rap workshop with Children's Laureate Wales, ALEX WHARTON, and a 'create your own spy' workshop with novelist SARAH TODD TAYLOR.
